Paramount+ to launch in Europe on Sky's platform

ViacomCBS announced the European launch of its Paramount+ streaming service via Sky platforms in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria starting 2022. The launch is part of a multi-year distribution agreement with Sky owner Comcast, and ViacomCBS also renewed its multi-year agreement with Sky as an ad sales partner for all platforms and channels in the UK and Italy.

Under the deal, Sky Cinema subscribers will have access to Paramount+ at no additional cost and Paramount Pictures’ feature films will be carried by Sky Cinema in Germany and Italy from 2022.

The wider deal includes a multi-year extension for Sky to carry ViacomCBS linear channels such as Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon in the UK, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, as well as making the company's box sets available on demand.

Sky Media will continue to handle ad sales across the ViacomCBS portfolio of channels, including Channel 5 in the UK.
