Belgian operator Proximus has appointed Frenchman Guillaume Boutin (45) as its new CEO and successor to Dominique Leroy, who left the company in September. Boutin has been appointed for a period of six years and will start on 1 December.
As CEO, Boutin will be tasked with continuing the digitisation of the Proximus Group, implementing its transformation plan and preparing the company for the major challenges it and the telecom sector in general will be facing over the coming years.
Boutin comes from Tours in France. He has a Masters in Corporate Finance from HEC Paris and an Executive MBA from INSEAD. He gained professional experience as a strategy consultant at the start of his career, jumped on the internet train with the creation of a start-up and then started at SFR where he held various positions, including that of CFO and chief marketing officer. He then joined the Canal+ Group in 2015 as chief marketing officer.
Boutin has been working for Proximus since 2017 and until recently was responsible for the consumer market. He is the first foreigner since the early 1990s to hold the position of CEO at the Belgian operator.
