The CEO of Belgian operator Proximus, Dominique Leroy is leaving the company on 20 September, rather than 01 December as originally planned. Her early departure for a job at KPN follows pressure from unions, who called the new job a conflict of interest.
Proximus said in a statement that it was agreed Leroy would leave early to "restore a serene climate" at the company. CFO Sandrine Dufour will take over as interim CEO from 21 September until a permanent candidate is found, working with support from chairman Stefaan de Clerck.
The board is expected to approve at a meeting on 19 September the conditions for the new CEO and the hiring of a recruitment firm.
KPN announced separately that it will hold an extraordinary shareholders meeting on 28 October to vote on Leroy's appointment.
