Proximus CEO Leroy to face insider trading investigation

The public prosecutor in Brussels has launched an investigation into suspected insider trading by Dominique Leroy, the CEO of Proximus. Raids were conducted at her home and Proximus offices, the magazine Knack first reported.

The prosecutor confirmed the judicial investigation but would not disclose the subject. Leroy told Belga news agency that it concerned her sale of shares in Proximus, a month before she announced plans to leave the company and become CEO of KPN. She referred to her earlier statement that said the sale of shares was unrelated to her plans to depart and she had not yet made the decision to take the KPN job when the stock was sold.

The stock sale was reported by the financial securities regulator, which is conducting its own standard investigation. Leroy confirmed she had provided the regulator with information as well as the visits from the prosecutor.

Leroy's last day at Proximus is 20 September, after unions pushed for a quick departure. She is slated to start work at KPN on 01 December.
