Rakuten Mobile hits 3 million Un-Limit subscribers

Japanese operator Rakuten Mobile has announced that the total number of applications for its ‘Un-Limit’ service plan has surpassed 3 million. Rakuten Mobile launched its own mobile network service in April 2020.

Applications for the Rakuten Un-Limit service plan opened on 3 March 2020. By 30 June, the number of applications surpassed 1 million, followed by 2 million on 30 December 2020. Since the announcement of the new Rakuten Un-Limit VI service plan on 29 January 2021, the number of applications for the service plan has grown to 3 million on 9 March this year. Rakuten earlier announced that applications for the one-year free campaign will close on 7 April.

The Rakuten Un-Limit service plan offers unlimited data use within Rakuten network areas and unlimited domestic calls using the Rakuten Link app for a monthly fee of JPY 2,980. The service plan also offers 5GB of data per month within service areas provided by Rakuten Mobile’s domestic roaming partner, in addition to a maximum data transmission speed of 1 Mbps after using the allocated 5GB of data.

Current Rakuten Un-Limit V customers will be automatically upgraded to Rakuten Un-Limit VI on 1 April. New applications made through the Rakuten Mobile official website or in Rakuten Mobile shops from 1 April, and onwards will be for the Rakuten Un-Limit VI price plan.
