Swiss operator Salt said it has signed a long-term partnership agreement with Swisscom to access its FTTH network. Along with its existing agreements and mobile network, that means it will be able to offer its residential products nationwide.
The company estimates an accessible footprint of 3 million households by 2025 using the FTTH network of Swisscom and local utilities. Salt will have its own physical Layer 1 access on Swisscom's FTTH fibre-optic networks with point-to-multipoint architecture to operate its own services. Salt will offer its Gigabox service, based on the mobile network, to households not yet connected to FTTH.
No financial details of the agreement were disclosed. Salt said it will finance the progressive investments from its operational cash flow.
