The Galaxy Gear also has a built-in speaker for voice commands, called S Voice, allowing users to conduct hands-free calls, draft messages, create calendar entries, set alarms and check the weather. It also comes with a 1.9 megapixel camera, called the Memographer feature, and a Voice Memo, to record spoken notes as text on their Galaxy device. The Galaxy Gear can also be used to control the smartphone's lock screen or music settings, locate the phone and track the user's physical activity, using built-in sensors.
As a wristwatch, the Gear has a 1.63-inch screen and comes loaded with 10 different clock options and more choices downloadable via Samsung Apps. It will be available in six colours at launch, initially with the Galaxy Note 3, also launched at Ifa. Samsung said the devices will launch in more than 140 countries around the world, from 25 September.
