SFR CEO resigns, Combes to take over

SFR's CEO Michel Paulin has resigned, for "personal reasons", the company announced. He will be replaced by Michel Combes, the former head of Alcatel-Lucent who became CEO of SFR's parent company Altice in 2015. 

Paulin reportedly informed Altice before the summer that he planned to leave, Les Echos reported earlier. According to the paper's source, there was no disagreement on strategy but he found the job too intense, "requiring unending energy and total engagement". 

Paulin became CEO at the start of 2016 and was charged with leading SFR's return to growth. Combes will now take over that task, assisted by Alain Weill, head of SFR Media. Weill will be in charge of ensuring the integration of the telecom and media activities, following the company's acquisition of NextRadioTV. He is already head of NextRadioTV.

Altice revenues, EBITDA rise in Q3 bolstered by US

Altice said revenues and adjusted EBITA lifted in the third quarter, with losses at France pretty much offset by gains in the US. Group revenues went to EUR 5.755 billion, up 0.3 from the year before on a constant currency basis and down 1.8 percent on a reported basis. Revenues in the US advanced 3.2 percent at constant currency, while at France, they fell 1.3 percent. Sales also slid in Portugal, down 3.1 percent. At Israel, they Israel grew 3.1 percent.

SFR goes ahead with office move from headquarters in Saint-Denis

SFR has started relocating its employees from the existing headquarters in Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris, to the 'Qu4drans' business park south of the capital, reports Le Journal de Saint-Denis. The news validates the press reports that first emerged in October 2016, confirming that the office move will gradually see the entire workforce move out by the third quarter of 2018.

SFR lets B2B director go – report

The executive director responsible for SFR's B2B division, Henri Juin, will reportedly leave his position after only a few months in the role, reveals Universfreebox. Based on information gathered by La Letter A, he will be replaced by Alexandre Wauquiez, the current marketing director of SFR's B2B division. If confirmed, Wauquiez would be the fourth B2B executive director to be named in the space of two years.

SFR loses consumer director Van Overbeke

Jean-Pascal Van Overbeke will be replaced by Gregory Rabuel as Executive Director of SFR's B2C activities, reports La Tribune. The announcement was made to employees in an internal email from Armando Pereira, who has been acting as SFR deputy CEO since September. Rabuel was previously in charge of SFR's Distribution.

A spokesman for Altice told La Tribune that Armando Pereira will take on the role of SFR deputy CEO "for the coming months", in charge of the telecom business. The statement came in response to an article from the newspaper casting doubt on the future of Michel Combes as SFR CEO, following the resignation of Michel Paulin earlier this month. The spokesman denied the content of the article, stating that Combes will remain at the helm and that Pereira will be part of his executive team alongside Alain Weill,

SFR's fibre deployment director, Thierry Vanderaspoilden, will reportedly leave his position after taking on the role in mid-2016, reveals Universfreebox. Based on information gathered by La Letter A, Altice executive Armando Pereira would be behind the decision, as SFR faces a period of change following the resignation of its CEO Michel Paulin, announced on 11 September.

AMF clears Altice's buy-out offer and squeeze-out for SFR shares

Altice has received the green light from the French financial market authority (AMF) to go ahead with its proposed buy-out offer, followed by a squeeze-out, for the remaining SFR shares it does not yet own. Altice announced the offer, at a price of EUR 34.50 per share, on 05 September and said that the planned transactions will result in the delisting of SFR Group shares from Euronext Paris at the start of the fourth quarter.

Altice plans more local TV channels in France

Altice is planning to expand its local broadcast activities from Paris to other major regions of France, according to Alan Weill, head of NextRadioTV and SFR Media. He said the group has seen success with the channel BFM Paris, with around 2 million viewers per month, and hopes to replicate this in other cities, reports Le Figaro.

SFR Q2 revenues fall 0.4% to EUR 2.76 billion

Altice reported second-quarter revenues in France of EUR 2.76 billion, down 0.4 percent from a year earlier as retail subscriber numbers and ARPU rose in mobile but fell in fixed.  Adjusted EBITDA fell 4.6 percent to EUR 953 million after costly sporting-rights acquisitions.

SFR aims to take control of media company NextRadioTV

SFR is waiting for the green light from French broadcast regulator CSA to take control of media company NextRadioTV, while not specifying what majority stake it plans to achieve.
