SFR's Rabuel replaces Weill at the helm of Altice France

Altice France announced that Alain Weill has resigned as CEO to pursue new projects in the media and digital space. Gregory Rabuel, managing director of the group's telecom operations (SFR), will replace Weill from 01 July taking the role of CEO while overseeing the SFR business. Arthur Dreyfuss will continue to lead Altice France’s media activities, alongside his responsibilities as group general secretary.

Weill became an Altice executive in 2015, when he agreed a partnership with Altice as CEO of NextRadioTV, the media company he founded at the end of 2000. In 2017, he was promoted from his position as CEO of SFR Media to become chairman and CEO of the SFR group.

Altice France executive Arthur Dreyfuss has been promoted to the role of group CEO to replace Gregory Rabuel. The news first emerged in an internal note sent to employees, and has since been confirmed by the company. Rabuel became CEO on 01 July 2021, after the resignation of Alain Weill. Arthur Dreyfuss has been leading subsidiary Altice Media since early 2020, while also covering the position of group general secretary.

SFR parent Altice to acquire French operator Coriolis

Altice France announced an exclusive agreement to acquire 100 percent of rival Coriolis, an independent telecom group with more than half a million customers. Under the terms of the deal, the total cash consideration consists of an upfront purchase price of EUR 298 million and a deferred cash consideration of EUR 117 million. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and should be completed in the first half of 2022.

Altice France telecom arm posts 4.1% revenue growth in Q2, EBITDA up 2.5%

Altice France said that its telecom operations generated second-quarter revenues of EUR 2.63 billion, up 4.1 percent year-on-year (+3.6 % in Q1). In the residential market, service revenues increased 4.6 percent to EUR 1.57 billion, as the fixed segment maintained its growth momentum (+6.5% from +6.8% in Q1) and the mobile business returned to a positive performance (+3.2% from -1.3% in Q1).

Altice Media plans further expansion of BFM TV regional channel network

French broadcaster BFM TV, part of Altice Media, is set to strengthen its network of local channels with new projects planned in the western and north-eastern regions of the country. The CEO of Altice Media, Arthur Dreyfuss, told Le Journal du Dimanche that BFM TV will have ten local channels by 2022. Earlier this year, the broadcaster acquired Azur TV to reach near complete coverage of the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region.

SFR employees go on strike over job cuts

Trade unions representing SFR employees called for industrial action over the planned workforce reductions announced by Altice France in early March. In a joint move, CFDT, CFTC and Unsa organised a strike on 24 June, with demonstrations at several sites across the group. The action aims to force a rethink of the voluntary redundancy programme, which will see the departure of around 1,700 employees.

Altice Media launches 'RMC BFM Play' streaming platform, partners with Alchimie

Altice Media, part of Altice France, has announced the availability of "RMC BFM Play", a new subscription-free streaming service offering live and on-demand programmes on multiple screens. Altice France telecom arm reports 3.6% revenue growth in Q1

Altice France said that its telecom operations generated first-quarter revenues of EUR 2.63 billion, up 3.6 percent year-on-year (-0.5% in Q4). Altice France to gain 50% stake in Reglo Mobile through acquisition of MVNO Afone

Altice France announced an agreement to acquire MVNO Afone Participations, through which the Altice subsidiary will own a 50 percent stake in Reglo Mobile. The latter is a consumer brand distributed across the retail footprint of hypermarket E.Leclerc, which holds the remaining 50 percent stake. It has an MVNO agreement with Altice subsidiary SFR, and will maintain its presence across E.Lecler's retail channels as part of the deal.
