Tele2, Bite Latvia launch unlimited plans with roaming

Tele2 and Bite Latvia have announced a revamp of their plans from June to include unlimited communications also when roaming in the EU. 

Tele2's new Gold Unlimited plan comes with unlimited calls, SMS and data in Latvia and up to 6 GB per month when roaming in the EU, for EUR 21.99 per month. It also includes unlimited calls from Latvia to the EU, as does the 6 GB plan at EUR 16.99 per month. 

In addition, the company offers plans with unlimited calls and SMS in Latvia and the EU as well as 500 MB with roam like home for EUR 8.49 and 2 GB for EUR 11.99 per month. Customers on the 2 GB, 6 GB and unlimited plans can also use up to 300 MB, 1 GB and 2 GB respectively on another device such as tablet, in both Latvia and the EU. 

Bite Latvia's unlimited plan costs EUR 22.50 per month and includes up to 5 GB for roaming in the EU and 500 minutes of international calls to Europe. The 10 GB plan at EUR 18.50 also comes with a cap of 5 GB for roaming. 

Bite also offers options with 500 MB, 2 GB and 5 GB, all of which can be used while roaming, and each plan includes a bundle of minutes for international calls and unlimited calls and SMS in Latvia. All of the plans also come with one to 12 months of zero-rated data for popular applications such as Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter; after the free period, this option costs EUR 2 per month. In addition, each plan comes with a period of free screen replacement insurance and anti-virus protection.

Tele2 Latvia improves EBITDA margin in Q1

Revenues of the mobile operator Tele2 Latvia increased by 7 percent in the first quarter of this year, from SEK 236 million a year ago to SEK 253 million. EBITDA grew by 24 percent to SEK 88 million, and the EBITDA margin increased to 35 percent, up by 5 percentage points as a result of higher service revenues and prudent cost management.
