Telenor Sweden CEO moves to DiGi
Telenor announced that its Malaysian subsidiary DiGi Telecommunications appointed Lars-Ake Norling as its new CEO, effective 1 August. Norling replaces Henrik Clausen, who will take a new senior role in Telenor Group. Norling holds since 2009 the position of CEO at Telenor Sweden, where he will be succeeded by Patrik Hofbauer, also effective 1 August. Hofbauer is currently CEO of Telenor Broadcast and Canal Digital. Telenor Broadcast has started the process of finding Patrik Hofbauer's successor, and a new CEO will be announced as soon as the process has been finalised.

Dtac CEO Norling to leave Telenor group

Telenor's Thai subsidiary Total Access Communication (Dtac) announced that its CEO Lars-Ake Norling has decided to leave the company to pursue new opportunities. Dtac has already started the process of appointing a new CEO. Norling will remain in his current role until 1 September, or until a successor has been appointed. Effective immediately, Norling will also step down from Telenor Group Executive Management, including his role as Cluster Head for Developed Asia.

Digi appoints Norling as chairman

Malaysia operator Digi Telecommunications has appointed Lars-Ake Norling as chairman of its board of directors, effective immediately. Norling succeeds Morten Karlsen Sorby, who has served as Digi's chairman since August 2015. Norling is currently Telenor Groups' EVP for Developed Asia Cluster, and Director and CEO of Total Access Communication Public Company (Dtac) in Thailand.

Telenor Sweden sales up on acquisition, loses more customers

Telenor Sweden reported an increase in second-quarter revenues, to NOK 2.84 billion from NOK 2.67 billion a year earlier, thanks to its takeover of Tele2's fixed business in January. Excluding the acquisition, mobile revenues were up 1 percent in local currency, while fixed revenues fell 7 percent. Adjusted EBITDA rose to NOK 890 million from NOK 805 million a year ago, and the margin improved to 31.4 percent from 30.1 percent. This was helped by efficiency measures and lower subscriber acquisition costs. E

Telenor Sweden offers annual phone upgrades

Telenor Sweden said it is launching 'Telenor Change', which enables customers to upgrade their smartphones annually at no charge. Telenor said most Swedish mobile telephony customers choose a 24-month subcription because it enables them to trade in their phone at a reasonable price. This means customers are bound to a particular handset for at least two years.

Telenor makes Alcatel-Lucent LTE overlay candidate supplier

Telenor Group has signed a global framework agreement to make Alcatel-Lucent a candidate provider for LTE networks to its subsidiaries in thirteen countries in Europe and Asia. The deal offers Telenor subsidiaries Alcatel-Lucent's 4G Overlay technology as an alternative to single RAN deployment.
