TIM launches pay-TV offer with football, Netflix and Disney+ for under EUR 30

Telecom Italia (TIM) has launched a new campaign to promote its TIMvision Gold pay-TV package, which it is offering for under EUR 30 month. The package comes with content from DAZN’s sports streaming service, including every game from Italy’s top-tier Serie A football league, plus UEFA Champions League games from Mediaset Infinity, as well as subscriptions to TIMvision, Netflix and Disney+ for EUR 29.99 a month until 30 September 2022 instead of the usual price of EUR 44.99.

The offer, backed by a TV advertising campaign, has also reduced the price of the 'TIMvision Calcio e Sport' pay-TV package to EUR 19.99 a month from EUR 29.99. A one-off activation fee of EUR 9.99 is payable and the promotion is initially available until 15 November.

Serie A airs first football game via metaverse

Italy's top-tier Serie A football league has joined forces with partners Telecom Italia (TIM), blockchain specialist ConsenSys and video game platform The Nemesis to broadcast its first game in the metaverse, reports news agency Ansa, citing Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo. Under the trial, the match between AC Milan and Fiorentina held on 01 May at the San Siro stadium was made available to fans in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region via the "Serie A room in The Nemesis metaverse".

Telecom Italia (TIM) has launched a new promotion giving TIM fixed network customers access to the 'TIMvision with Disney+' pay-TV package for free for 6 months. Under the promo, anyone signed up to the operator's TIM Premium fixed line offer from EUR 29.90 a month, or EUR 24.90 for mobile customers, will offer a 6-month subscription to the pay-TV package normally costing EUR 9.90 a month.

Telecom Italia (TIM) said a docu-film on the life and career of the prolific Italian composer Ennio Morricone will be premiered on its TIMvision video-on-demand service on 08 April following a successful theatrical release. The film called 'Ennio', directed and narrated by the Oscar-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore, tells the story of the Morricone's extraordinary career, during which he composed over 500 soundtracks.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the launch of TIMvision Box Atmosphere, a new Wi-Fi 6-enabled set-top box with enhanced audio from Bang & Olufsen and Dolby Atmos, confirming earlier reports. The new decoder for accessing TIM's complete Android TV entertainment offer, including TIMvision, TIMmusic and TIMgames, as well as DAZN, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and YouTube, has been developed in collaboration with Sagemcom and also comes with built-in DVB-T2 to access all DTT channels.

Telecom Italia (TIM) has begun contacting selected customers to offer them a free two-month subscription to DAZN and Mediaset's Infinity+ streaming platforms, reports Mondo Mobile Web. The offer is being sent via SMS to fixed line customers already signed up to the operator's TIMvision pay-TV service, above all those subscribing to Netflix and Disney+, said the report.

Agcom refrains from fining DAZN, calls for action on streaming issues

TIM launches 100Mbps satellite broadband offering

Telecom Italia (TIM) has launched its satellite-based broadband offer throughout Italy following an initial trial, reports Mondo Mobile Web. The operator's first commercial satellite technology offering is set to be called TIM Super Sat and will come with 100GB of data at top speeds of 100Mbps (download) and 5Mbps (upload) for EUR 49.90 a month for the first 48 months, decreasing to EUR 44.90 a month thereafter.

TIM signs up Italy manager Mancini for ad campaign

Telecom Italia (TIM) said it has signed up Roberto Mancini, manager of the UEFA Euro 2020 tournament winners Italy, to appear in an advertising campaign promoting the operator's 'TIMvision Calcio e Sport' pay-TV package. The ads directed by TIM brand strategy head Luca Josi feature Mancini discussing team formations with veteran actor Lino Banfi and will be aired on Italy's main TV channels in 20 and 15 second formats, as well as on digital channels.

DAZN airing Serie A football on back-up DTT channel

Sports streaming platform DAZN has begun airing its coverage of Italy's top-tier Serie A football league on a back-up DTT channel as well as via its broadband signal in areas with coverage difficulties, reports Mondo Mobile Web. The backup HD channel has been available on dial number 409 since 09 August to subscribers in so-called 'white areas' without access to high-speed broadband. To access the service, a dedicated DAZN TV Box needs to be acquired at a one-off cost of EUR 139.99, said the report.

Telecom Italia revenue returns to growth in Q2, posts 6% organic EBITDA drop

Telecom Italia (TIM) reported revenues up 1.0 percent year on year to EUR 3.82 billion in the second quarter of 2021, a return to growth following a flat reading in Q1 and Covid-hit annual falls of 2.1 percent, 5.0 percent, 10.1 percent and 6.6 percent in 2020. TIM said the result was due to a substantial rise in service revenues at its TIM Brasil unit (up 10.5% in local currency) coupled with an improvement in core domestic revenues EUR 3.13 billion, equivalent to a 1 percent year-on-year decline.
