UK government consults on improving mobile coverage

The UK department of culture, media and sport has launched a public consultation until 26 November on ways to improve mobile coverage in partial not-spots, where mobile service is offered by one or two carriers but not all four. An estimated 21 percent of the country's landmass is affected. The consultation examines three possible measures, namely infrastructure sharing, multi-operator MVNO, and national roaming. It also considers a "do nothing" option. The government states that measures should be in place by the end of 2016 in order to deliver maximum benefits.
