Veon confirms Komarov as Kyivstar CEO

Veon Group has appointed Alexander Komarov the new CEO of its Ukrainian operator Kyivstar. Komarov comes from the mobile operator Beeline Kazakhstan, also controlled by the Veon Group, where he has served as CEO since 2016 and prior to that as COO. He has held the position of interim CEO at Kyivstar since July this year.

Komarov has been with the Veon group for five years and prior to that was CEO of GroupM, Ukraine’s largest marketing company. He also held several senior marketing and commercial roles with international and Ukrainian companies. Veon did not say whether he will continue also as CEO in Kazakhstan or if a new executive will be appointed there.

Ukrainian government has dismissed Pyotr Semerey from his position as CEO of broadcaster KRRT, reports BizLigaNet. Semerey's contract had expired, a year after he was first appointed. Sergey Mikryukov has been appointed acting CEO for a month.

Veon confirms chair Burns as new CEO

Veon has appointed Ursula Burns as CEO. Burns has worked as the chairman of the Veon management board since July 2017, acted as executive chairman since March 2017 and took up CEO duties already in March on an interim basis. During that time she has introduced a simplified corporate structure, including a leaner operating model along with an increased focus on emerging markets, Veon said.

Veon Group has announces plans to further simplify the group's operating model. The company said the new high-level structure will help create a leaner HQ with clear accountability and more efficient operating model. Kjell Morten Johnsen has been appointed as group COO, a role he had held on an interim basis since March of this year. Petro Chernyshov plans to resign as president of Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar, reports BizLigaNet citing three independent undisclosed sources. Reasons for the change weren't specified.

Kar-Tel appoints new CEO

Mobile operator Kar-Tel, working under the Beeline Kazakhstan brand, has appointed Alexander Komarov the company's new CEO. Komarov worked earlier as CCO at Beeline Kazakhstan. He will succeed Taras Parkhomenko, whose three year contract has expired.
