Verizon Wireless announced the roll-out of voice services over its LTE network. Billed initially as Advanced Calling 1.0, the services will start reaching customers in the coming weeks, the US operator said. This will include HD Voice calls and video calling over the 4G network.
Both customers need to have compatible devices and be on the Verizon network for the VoLTE service to work. Verizon said customers will see clearly in their contact list the option for video calls and will be able to switch between voice and video within a call. The service will become available gradually as more mobile devices are updated with new software to support VoLTE.
