VHA receives further regulatory approvals for merger with TPG

Vodafone Hutchison Australia (VHA) announced it has received further regulatory approvals for its merger with TPG Telecom. VHA has now received required clearance from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and the required consent from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). These regulatory clearances permit the proposed change of control related to TPG’s submarine cable between Sydney and Guam.

Vodafone Hutchison Australia’s CEO Inaki Berroeta said merger preparations are continuing to proceed to schedule, despite the evolving Covid-19 situation. VHA also reports it is working towards meeting the remaining regulatory conditions so as to complete the merger with TPG in mid-2020.
