Vodafone Portugal and Nos have signed a letter of intent with a view to concluding a nationwide mobile asset sharing agreement. The aim is to develop a sustainable investment model, which allows greater and faster coverage of the national territory to the benefit of customers of both operators, Vodafone said in a statement.
Vodafone and Nos will ensure total independence in defining and providing services to their customers, not sharing spectrum and maintaining strategic control of their networks, the company noted. The companies will enter exclusive negotiations with the aim of reaching a final agreement by June.
The two operators already cooperate since 2017 on sharing certain network assets, such as dark fibre and some towers.
