Vodafone hires T-Mobile's Humm to head north Europe
Vodafone Group is setting up two new operating regions for its European activities. The mobile operator has hired Philipp Humm, the former Deutsche Telekom executive and T-Mobile USA CEO, to head up the new Northern & Central Europe division, which includes Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, Turkey, Ireland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Romania. Paolo Bertoluzzo, currently CEO of Vodafone italia, will add the role of CEO of Southern Europe, which includes Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Albania and Malta. Both Humm and Bertoluzzo will join the Vodafone Group Executive Committee when their appointments take effect, on respectively 01 October and 01 August.

Vodafone UK quarterly revenues fall 1.4%

Vodafone UK reported service revenues down 0.8 percent on an organic basis in the three months to 30 June, hurt by the slowing economy and competitive pressures. The mobile operator said this was partially offset by an increase in data revenues, which grew 4 percent on an organic basis, and the success of integrated tariffs. Vodafone Spain CEO moves back to Vodacom

Vodafone has appointed Antonio Coimbra as chief executive officer of its Spanish unit, effective 1 September. Coimbra replaces Shameel Joosub, who will take over the position of Vodacom CEO. Coimbra most recently served as CEO of Vodafone Portugal. Francisco Roman will continue as president of Vodafone Spain. Joosub replaces Pieter Uys as CEO of the African unit. Uys has decided to step down at the end of March 2013 after almost 20 years with Vodacom, including four years as CEO. Joosub will take up the job

Combes stays to oversee Vodafone Europe transition

Vodafone Europe CEO Michel Combes will stay several more months to ensure the transition and appointment of a new management team at Vodafone in Europe, Dow Jones reports. Combes earlier announced his departure from Vodafone to become CEO of French operator SFR. However, he abandoned the French job when Jean-Bernard Levy, chairman of SFR's parent Vivendi, stepped down. Stephane Roussel, Vivendi's head of HR, was named the new CEO of SFR.
