Apple blocks Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 launch in Australia

Samsung has agreed to stop advertising its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia and will not sell the tablet PC until it wins court approval. Apple sought an injunction to stop Samsung from selling the tablet PC in Australia and the company is planning to seek similar injunctions in other countries as well, Bloomberg reports. Apple claims the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringes ten of its patents, including the "look and feel" and touchscreen technology of the Apple iPad. The dispute over the tablet PC began in April this year when Apple sued Samsung in the US claiming the Galaxy 'slavishly' imitates the designs and technologies used by Apple. Samsung retaliated with lawsuits against Apple in a number of countries. Samsung says that Apple is basing its claim on the US version of the Galaxy Tab, which is different from the Australian version. The company will provide Apple with samples of the Galaxy Tab that will be sold in Australia for review. The court has scheduled a hearing for August 29 to review the status of the case.
