Apple extends Samsung sales ban request to Galaxy S III
Apple has extended its request for a ban on Samsung phones in the US to include the Korean company's flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. Apple on 31 August amended a complaint, filed originally in Feburary, to include four more products to a list of Samsung products that Apple says infringes on its patents. The list now includes the Galaxy Note smartphone as well as the Galaxy S III. In the complaint, Apple accuses Samsung of filling "the market with copycat products", the Los Angeles Times reports. This comes on top of the eight devices Apple hopes to ban as a result of the recent court verdict awarding Apple USD 1 billion in damages for alleged patent infringement by Apple. US District Judge Lucy H. Koh, who presided over the trial, will hold an injunction hearing 20 September to determine which, if any, of Samsung's smartphones should be banned from US stores. Samsung struck back and accused Apple of "resorting to litigation" to quell competition "in an effort to limit consumer choice."
