Apple, Qualcomm, Nokia mull bids for InterDigital - report

Apple, Nokia and Qualcomm are among several technology companies considering bids for InterDigital, sources familiar with the situation told Reuters. Google has not formally withdrawn from the auction but it is unclear whether it will bid for InterDigital, the sources told Reuters. The auction of the wireless telecommunications specialist will be postponed from next week until after Labor Day, according to the report. First-round bids have been postponed because bidders asked for more time to complete due diligence on the company's patents. To make up for that delay, the company expects to accelerate the second round, the sources said. InterDigital hired Evercore Partners and Barclays Capital in July to explore strategic alternatives, including a possible sale of the company.
