Samsung considers bid for InterDigital patents - report
Samsung Electronics is examining InterDigital's patent portfolio after being approached to make a bid, two people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Samsung is looking at the patents along with Apple, Google and other potential bidders, according to the report. InterDigital said last month that it hired bankers as it considers a sale of its portfolio of about 8,800 patents.

Mobile licensing group InterDigital's revenue for the third quarter fell 17 percent to USD 76.5 million from USD 91.9 million in the year-earlier period. InterDigital still considering takeover bids

InterDigital said it's board is still exploring strategic options for the company. This may include a sale, to a single buyer or consortium of buyers, of the company or select assets of the company. The statement follows a drop in the company's share price after reports it received bids of only USD 1-2 billion, less than its market capitalisation. According to a report from DealReporter, "a large Asian mobile device company" has made a bid.
