Cricket Wireless matches T-Mobile US with USD 15 prepaid plan

AT&T's prepaid brand Cricket Wireless is offering from 27 March a new limited-time plan for USD 15 per month. The plan comes with 2GB of data and unlimited calls and texts, matching an offer introduced two days earlier by T-Mobile US. The plan is available to new and existing customers with no activation fee.

Cricket said it's being working to ensure its stores are responding appropriately to the Covid-19 pandemic. The company is closing some of its stores and is offering some benefits to help customers during this crisis. It will also waive fees for customers financially affected by the crisis.

It will begin adding data to capped and unlimited phone plans for a limited time. It will automatically add 10GB of data to capped plans for new and existing customers. That means customers on the USD 30/2GB plan or the USD 40/5GB plan will get an additional 10GB of data for mobile hotspot or smartphone use for two bill cycles. After two bill cycles, they will no longer receive the additional data.

It will also automatically add 10GB of data to unlimited plans for new and existing customers. That means customers on the USD 55 unlimited plan without mobile hotspot will receive 10GB of data for hotspot use. If they’re on the USD 60 unlimited plan with 15GB of mobile hotspot, they’ll get an additional 10GB of data for mobile hotspot use. Both plans will receive the additional data for two bill cycles.

It may take up to one week for existing customers to receive the additional data.

Fees waived for customers financially affected by Covid-19

To help customers affected financially by the Covid-19 pandemic, the company is waiving processing fees for IVR payments and service reactivation. Customers can pay their bill by phone through Cricket’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. Starting from 24 March, it's automatically waiving reactivation fees for customers.
