Deutsche Telekom may sell T-Online to Axel Springer - report
Deutsche Telekom plans to shed its T-Online news portal and is negotiating its possible sale to the Axel Springer group, according to a report on the WirtschaftsWoche website. It cited sources close to the company as saying talks were already under way but at an early stage. When approached by WirtschaftsWoche, neither company would comment. T-Online portal had 374 million vistors in  November 2014, making it by far the most popular one in Germany, ahead of eBay with 314 million visitors, Bild.de with 295 million and Spiegel Online with 200 million.

WirtschaftsWoche said Deutsche Telekom might not sell all the T-Online activities, possibly keeping the e-mail accounts. Buying T-Online would broaden Springer's reach, commented WirtschaftsWoche, and Springer's 'Bild' and 'Die Welt' publications could supply the content for it. Any potential deal would come under the scrutiny of the Federal Cartel Office, it said.

Axel Springer sells rest of Talpa Germany to Talpa Media

Media group Talpa Media has announced the acquisition of the remaining 50.1 percent shares in Talpa Germany from Axel Springer, thereby taking over the TV producer completely. In December 2014, Talpa had already acquired 49.9 percent of Talpa Germany, previously Schwartzkopff TV. Mutual options for a full sale were granted in the course of this transaction. Deutsche Telekom increased its market value by 27 percent to EUR 10.4 billion in 2014, according to trade magazine Horizont's Brand Ticker. Axel Springer buys minority stake in NowThis

Axel Springer Digital Ventures has acquired a minority stake in social video news publisher NowThis Media. The New York startup produces short-form videos around trending stories, designed for mobile devices and distribution across social channels. It is particularly popular with those aged 18-34. Bild.de leads mobile website visits in October

With 108.7 million mobile visits, Bild.de was the most popular online portal among German mobile users in October, according to an analysis by the German ratings organisation IVW. Twitch.tv ranked second with 101.5 million mobile visits, followed by T-Online's online content (almost 85 million).
