EE launches 4G-capable M2M service
EE has launched a new 4G-capable dedicated M2M service called EE Connect. The service will help businesses and public sector organisations develop connected products on EE networks. EE Connect offers real time monitoring of all devices, automation to set and edit business rules remotely, and granular reporting. The EE Control Centre will allow customers to monitor and manage connected devices remotely. The service is supported by a dedicated service team for M2M customers. EE expects the number of M2M machines on its networks to double from more than 2 million currently to over 4 million by 2017. EE Connect is available to all EE business and public sector customers from 10 September, with trial packs available free by registering online.

EE to sell new Google Nexus 6P, 5X smartphones

EE has confirmed plans to offer the new Google Nexus 6P and 5X, with Wi-Fi Calling, on its 4GEE network. Wi-Fi Calling will not be available from launch, however it will be available as a software update for customers with the device on EE to be announced at a later date. EE is set to start using the 800 MHz spectrum purchased in the 2013 4G spectrum auction. Tablets to replace workplace laptops in 10 years - study

More than half (52%) of UK workers believe tablets will replace laptops in the workplace within 10 years, according to research from EE. Almost one third (31%) said that workplace laptop usage is falling, with 24 percent of workers saying they have now transitioned to tablets. EE plans to offer the new Sony Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact smartphones on its 4G network. Both devices will be compatible with EE's WiFi calling service. EE TV to add UI features, international channels

EE is preparing for a major update of the EE TV service, with a new 'My TV' section allowing viewers to create favourite programmes and channels lists for each member of the household, reports Digital Spy. Up to four users can use the accompanying app to watch different EE TV content on their smartphones and tablets at the same time. EE TV is also about to introduce the Fetch feature for users to switch running shows from the TV to mobile devices. The Flick feature currently handles mobile-to-TV switching.

Ofcom gives positive advice to CMA on BT takeover of EE

UK telecom regulator Ofcom appears to have given its backing to BT's proposed takeover of EE, the Daily Telegraph reports. EE has announced the launch of EE Connected Retail, a new range of 4G products to help retailers run smarter shops. Connected Retail provides businesses with a superfast 4G tablet, a contactless iZettle payments device and POS software Shopwave.
