Ericsson unveils industry-first 802.11ac Wave 2 access point
Ericsson has introduced what it described as the cable industry's first 802.11ac Wave 2 access point, the Ericsson AP 6335, a strand-mounted device including an integrated Docsis modem and multi-user MIMO for increased network capacity. The AP 6335, the evolution of the Ericsson BelAir 100SNE cable access point, mounts directly on the hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) line to connect both power and backhaul, said Ericsson, adding that its compact size makes it easy for cable operators to deploy and install. The device, part of Ericsson's small cell portfolio, also features Passpoint Release 2.0 and Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).
