Finnish govt promotes intelligent robotics and automation

The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications has outlined measures to promote the use and development of intelligent robotics and automation, to make Finland one of the leading countries in this field. The resolution outlines a vision for the period from 2020 to 2025. The aim is for Finland to provide, develop and extensively use intelligent robotics and automation by 2025 to tackle challenges such as those related to healthcare, knowledge work in public administration, and transport services.

The resolution includes 23 action points to implement the measures. It aims to identify national strengths, development targets and obstacles, and guidelines for speeding up the desired development.

The government intends to support the ecosystems and networks of automation and robotisation and promote business opportunities through regulation, for example. Investments should be made in increasing the expertise in robotics and automation, particularly in terms of information security, data protection, a user-centered approach and service design.

It is also important to increase the general acceptability of intelligent robotics and automation and to publicise them.  The resolution is part of a government key project on building a digital growth environment.
