France Televisions, M6 and TF1 to boost budget for SVoD Salto platform - report

The three French broadcasters behind Salto intend to invest EUR 135 million in their joint venture over three years, according to information gathered by La Lettre A. This would represent a significant increase compared to the original budget of EUR 45 million, initially earmarked by Salto’s shareholders last year. France Televisions, M6 and TF1 are working to launch the SVoD service in the first quarter of 2020, following regulatory approval from the French competition authority.

In related news, Salto has reportedly started looking for an advertising agency to support its communication strategy. In mid-September, its shareholders appointed M6 executive Thomas Follin to head the operations. He has now taken the role alongside TF1 CEO Gilles Pelisson, who for the next two years will act as chairman of Salto’s supervisory board.
