Iceland completes auction of 700 MHz, 2.6 GHz bands

Icelandic regulator PTA has announced the closing of the auction of frequency licences for the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz bands. Omnitele said it supported Siminn in its spectrum valuation, adding that Siminn received 2x20 MHz in the 700 MHz band.

The PTA has named the highest bidders for the available airwaves. It said Siminn bid ISK 35 million for each of two blocks of 2x10 MHz in the 700 MHz band, as well as ISK 5.5 million for each of two blocks of 2x5 MHz in the 2100 MHz band. Siminn also bid ISK 10 million for 2x20 MHz in the 2600 MHz band. PTA said it would be assessing the bids, adding that the highest bidder normally wins.

The regulator said Nova bid ISK 17.5 million for 2x5 MHz in the 800 MHz band, ISK 5.5 million for 2x5 MHz in the 2100 MHz band as well as ISK 6 million each for two blocks of 2x10 MHz in the 2600 MHz band.

Vodafone bid ISK 17.5 million for 2x5 MHz in the 800 MHz band, ISK 5.5 million for 2x5 MHz in the 2100 MHz band and ISK 10 million for 2x20 MHz in the 2600 MHz band. Yellow Mobile bid ISK 6.3 million for 2x10 MHz in the 2600 MHz band.
