Italian watchdog opens new inquiry into premium services

Italy's anti-trust and competition regulator AGCM has launched four new non-compliance proceedings against the operators Telecom Italia, 3 Italia, Wind and Vodafone Italia for continuing to charge for premium mobile services without user permission. In January the watchdog fined the operators a total of over EUR 5 million on the same grounds, accusing them of misleading customers by including paid services that weren't requested or were requested unknowingly on their monthly phone bills. The regulator said various consumers had complained that the practices remained ongoing and that it would report on the results of its investigations within 120 days.
