KPN confirms 'multiple parties' interested in Base

KPN confirmed that "multiple parties" have expressed interest in acquiring its Belgian mobile operator Base. The statement from the Dutch operator follows a report in the Belgian press that cable operators Telenet and Voo were already in advanced negotiations for a joint bid for Base. KPN did not name the potential bidders but said it was considering all options for Base. KPN tried to sell Base earlier in 2012 but was reportedly unable to acquire the desired price. The latest reports put Base's value at around EUR 1 billion. Other potential bidders are thought to include the French operators
