Microsoft expands HoloLens distribution in Europe

Microsoft is expanding sales of its HoloLens mixed-reality headset in Europe, in agreements with European IT services group Econocom Group and and Germany-based distributor Bechtle. Previously the headset was only available for purchase on the Microsoft Store.

The agreement with Econocom covers France, the UK, Belgium, Spain, Ireland, Italy and Luxembourg, while Bechtle focuses on the DACH countries Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

First launched in 2015 as the world's first self-contained holographic computer, the Microsoft HoloLens has been used in a wide range of professional scenarios, from remote assistance to training, maintenance to customer care, and creation to design.

Econocom said its ability to offer financing solutions such as subscriptions or pay-per-use will speed up HoloLens adoption by offering companies turnkey solutions to match their needs and address their digital transformation challenges.

Microsoft recently announced plans to bring the HoloLens to 29 more markets in Europe in addition to the 10 countries in which it is already available.
