Monaco Telecom claims first in Europe with LTE Cat 9
Monaco Telecom announced the first deployment of LTE-Advanced Category 9 in Europe. The operator is working with Huawei to deploy the technology on its network. Monaco Telecom first launched LTE-A services at the start of this year and currently offers a top speed of 223 Mbps. With the latest upgrade, it will be able to offer speeds up to 450 Mbps. 

Monaco Telecom is using a total 60MHz for LTE, including 2x20MHz in the 2.6GHz band and 1x20MHz in the 800MHz band. The operator said the continuous upgrade of the network is needed as data traffic is doubling each year, with customers now averaging 1.3 GB per month each. Around half its data traffic already runs over LTE. Customers are expected to be able to take advantage of the faster speeds from next year when Cat 9 terminals become available on the market.

Etisalat UAE tests LTE-A network with speed up to 450 Mbps

Etisalat has completed live testing of CAT-9 on its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network, opening up the possibility of mobile broadband speeds of up to 450 Mbps. Etisalat successfully tested and deployed CAT-6 on its LTE-A network in 2014 and enabled the country's first 4G+ speeds of up to 300 Mbps. Netgear demonstrates Cat 9 LTE Advanced hotspot

Netgear said it will be demonstrating its first Category 9 LTE Advanced technology at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. 64 mln Category 9, Category 10 smartphones to ship in 2019

The number of smartphones with Category 9 or Category 10 modems, which enable mobile broadband speeds in the downlink of up to 450 Mbps, are expected to reach 64 million in 2019, according to a new forecast from ABI Research.
