Mozilla stops selling Firefox OS smartphones

Wednesday 9 December 2015 | 09:38 CET | News
Mozilla has announced plans to stop selling smartphones based on the Firefox operating system. The announcement was made at Mozilla's developer event in Orlando, Mozlando, and confirmed to TechCrunch by Ari Jaaksi, Mozilla's SVP of Connected Devices. In a statement, he said that Mozilla will "continue to experiment with the user experience across connected devices" but will "stop offering Firefox OS smartphones through carrier channels". The decision to discontinue the phones was due in part to the inability "to offer the best user experience possible", according to Jaaksi.
