Netflix renames DVD business Qwikster
Netflix is renaming its DVD rentals business Qwikster, in the latest step to separate its DVD-by-mail and online streaming services. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings announced the change in an apologetic blog posting, where he also took the blame for customer upset over the increased prices for the two services. Qwikster, which was chosen to refer to quick delivery, will continue with the same website, service and terms. It will also add a video games rental service for the Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360. Andy Rendich will continue to lead the DVD business as CEO of Qwikster, and the company plans a marketing campaign under the new name.

Netflix reported third-quarter revenue of USD 822 million, up 49 percent from a year earlier and ahead of its forecast for USD 780-805 million. DreamWorks Animation said it completed a deal to bring its films and TV shows to Netflix, replacing a less lucrative pact with HBO. Maxcom to launch TV streaming, video service in Mexico

Mexican operator Maxcom Telecomunicaciones will launch an online video and live television rental service, Reuters reports, citing Gabriel Cejudo, Maxcom's marketing VP.
