Nokia appoints Batra as new chief strategy and technology officer

Nokia has appointed a new chief strategy and technology officer from 18 January. Nishant Batra joins Nokia from automotive tech specialist Veoneer in Sweden, where he was the CTO. Before that, he worked for 12 years at Ericsson. In his new position, he will be based initially in Espoo, Finland, after which he will move to the US.

Nishant holds an MBA from INSEAD, a master’s degree in telecommunications and a master’s degree in computer science from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and a bachelor’s degree in computer applications from Devi Ahilya University in India.

The appointment comes amid a number of changes in Nokia's top management since Pekka Lundmark took over as CEO in August. The current CTO Marcus Weldon announced last month that he would leave Nokia next March after 11 years in the position and 25 years with the company.
