Redbox Instant sVOD to start at USD 6/month - report
The Redbox Instant by Verizon online video service, currently in private beta, is expected to launch by as early as 17 December, writes online publication GigaOM, citing a publicly available help section for testers. Subscriptions will start at USD 6 a month for unlimited access to the video catalogue. For USD 8 a month, members will also have four Redbox credits to be redeemed for Redbox DVD rentals, with users able to reserve the DVDs online and from mobile apps. Redbox Instant will also offer rentals and sales starting at USD 0.99. Customers will be able to use the service on up to five registered devices. It will be available online, on Android and iOS devices, some Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players and the Xbox 360. Redbox Instant will use the Silverlight streaming platform.

Redbox Instant by Verizon goes live

Redbox has started accepting beta testers of the new Redbox Instant by Verizon service. For USD 8 a month, customers can rent 4 DVDs at its kiosk and stream unlimited films over Verizon. Subscribers get one month's service during which they can cancel. The minimum connection speed for streaming is 500 kbps.

Redbox Instant by Verizon announces pricing, studio deals

US online video service Redbox Instant by Verizon has unveiled further details of its launch later this month. Priced at USD 8 a month, the service will offer unlimited streaming of films, including titles from premium network Epix, with four on-night credits a month for the latest DVD releases at Redbox kiosks. MacroSolve files patent suit against Redbox

Mobile technology IP company MacroSolve has filed a patent infringement suit against DVD and game rental kiosk operator Redbox Automated Retail for infringement of a patent addressing mobile information collection systems across wireless networks. The patent covers fundamental technology in the mobile app space used by multiple companies. MacroSolve chairman and CEO Jim McGill said that it was awarded the patent in October 2010 and extended its rights to defend the IP through 2025.

Redbox, Verizon ink multi-year deal with Warner Bros

Redbox and Warner Bros Home Entertainment have signed a multi-year agreement to bring Warner Bros Blu-ray Disc and DVD titles, with street dates between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2014, to Redbox kiosks 28 days after their retail release. In addition, Redbox has announced plans to join the Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem (DECE) and has agreed to promote UltraViolet through a programme of mutually agreed-upon promotions and marketing tactics designed to help retail customers discover UltraViolet.

Redbox, Verizon video service expected to launch by yr-end

Coinstar's Redbox and Verizon Communications have provided more details about their planned video service, and are expected to offer subscription streaming, movie sales and rentals by Christmas, along with DVDs from the local kiosk, according to Bloomberg. Verizon, Redbox to launch subscription streaming service

Verizon to partner with Redbox - report

Verizon is planning a partnership with DVD rentals provider Redbox to launch an online streaming video service, TechCrunch reports.
