Redbox Instant sVOD to start at USD 6/month - report
The Redbox Instant by Verizon online video service, currently in private beta, is expected to launch by as early as 17 December, writes online publication GigaOM, citing a publicly available help section for testers. Subscriptions will start at USD 6 a month for unlimited access to the video catalogue. For USD 8 a month, members will also have four Redbox credits to be redeemed for Redbox DVD rentals, with users able to reserve the DVDs online and from mobile apps. Redbox Instant will also offer rentals and sales starting at USD 0.99. Customers will be able to use the service on up to five registered devices. It will be available online, on Android and iOS devices, some Samsung TVs and Blu-ray players and the Xbox 360. Redbox Instant will use the Silverlight streaming platform.
