Verizon to partner with Redbox - report
Verizon is planning a partnership with DVD rentals provider Redbox to launch an online streaming video service, TechCrunch reports. An unnamed source said that the two companies will debut a TV and movie streaming and download service next May. The service is called Project Zoetrope internally, and will be a subscription, streaming, and downloading service available on a broad variety of platforms. They plan support for iOS, Android, Google TV, Xbox, Roku and other streaming boxes, and browsers. Pricing is expected to be monthly and credit-based, such as USD 5.95 per month for six credits, which could be used to rent movies or shows. A combination of streaming and/or DVDs by mail will be offered in the subscription plans.
