Rogers bundles internet, TV, smart home monitoring and Rogers for Business into new Home & Business division

Rogers Communications has named Robert Depatie its new chief operating officer for the company’s newly-created Home & Business division, from 6 December. The new division includes Connected Home, supplying high-speed internet, television, and smart home monitoring services, Rogers for Business, covering large corporate, public sector and SME segments, and Customer Experience, serving all wireless and wireline customers.

Depatie was previously CEO at Quebecor Inc and Quebecor Media and CEO of Videotron Itee for ten years. He also spent fours as a member of the RCI board of directors.

Rogers to not appeal BC Supreme Court ruling in favour of controlling shareholder

The British Columbia Supreme Court has given its decision in the case pitting Rogers Communications against controlling shareholder Rogers Control Trust, regarding the dispute over board nominations to the company. The court has ruled in favour of Rogers Control Trust, reinstating ousted Edward Rogers as chairman of the board. The ruling also confirms the nomination last month by Edward Rogers of Michael Cooper, Jack Cockwell, Jan Innes, Ivan Fecan and John Kerr to the board.

Rogers Communications reported slightly lower profits on flat revenues in the third quarter, as growth in mobile and broadband offset weaker results from the media business due to less sports programming.
