Samsung operating profit hits record high of KRW 17.5 trln in Q3

Samsung Electronics gave earnings guidance for the third quarter, saying revenues climbed to KRW 65 trillion from 62.05 trillion the year before and 58.48 trillion in the previous quarter. The operating profit soared to a record high of KRW 17.5 trillion from 14.53 trillion year-on-year and 14.87 trillion quarter-on-quarter. 

Samsung did not release further details or a divisional breakdown of results. During the period, the company launched its latest flagship smartphone the Galaxy Note 9, and the group is also expected to have benefited from continued strong demand in the memory chip market. 

The company will release full quarterly results on 31 October.

Samsung unveils Galaxy J2 Core, its first Android Go phone

Samsung has announced the launch of the budget Galaxy J2 Core, its first smartphone to run Android Go, Google's stripped-down version of Android optimised for low-cost devices.
