SFR launches Evolution premium triple-play, new neufbox
French mobile and broadband operator SFR has launched its Evolution premium triple-play service, costing EUR 34.90 per month and based on a new neufbox gateway and STB with a 250 GB hard drive. The Evolution neufbox is compatible with ADSL and fibre, features five Gigabit Ethernet ports, two USB ports, Wi-Fi 802.11n, and a 200 Mbps powerline communications kit. The box is 40 percent smaller than the previous generation and uses 30 to 40 percent less electricity than others on the market. It comes with Eco, Wi-Fi and on/off buttons for energy savings. SFR has also released an internet 3G+ dongle to be inserted in the neufbox to enable service continuity in case of a broadband line fault. The same dongle, costing EUR 19, can be plugged into a laptop for mobile broadband access, with three hours of connection credit and top-ups or subscription options for more regular use. The STB's new remote control is omnidirectional and can control the STB even if the latter is enclosed in furniture. SFR has also introduced a new fluid, 3D TV interface which allows customers to simply navigate all of their TV services.
