Sigfox announced an agreement to bring its wireless network for the Internet of Things to Luxembourg. The company will work with telecoms operator Post Luxembourg and RMS.lu, a specialist in mobility systems for utilities and industry.
Sigfox is rolling out an ultra-narrow band technology that uses standard cell towers or buildings to provide efficient, two-way transmission of small quantities of data over long distances. Luxembourg is the eighth European country where it has signed an agreement for deployment.
It already has coverage in Luxembourg City and Ettelbruck, reaching around 30 percent of the population, and expects to have nationwide coverage by year-end. In addition to supporting the Sigfox network, Post Luxembourg and RMS.lu will work on developing IoT services and applications for local businesses and public sector organisations.
