Spanish MVNOs pass 9 mln customers in October - CNMC

Spanish mobile telephony connections fell by 67,956 lines in October compared to the previous month to reach a total of 50.66 million, some 0.3 percent less than the year-earlier figure. The latest monthly update released by telecoms regulator CNMC revealed that postpaid lines were up 3.1 percent while prepay lines fell 8.7 percent compared to October 2014.

A total of 455,390 lines were ported in October, some 20 percent less than a year ago, with the leading operators all posting monthly declines at the expense of the country’s MVNOs, which added 26,800 lines to reach a total of 9.02 million and 17.8 percent of the market. The country’s four leading operators – Movistar, Vodafone, Orange and Yoigo – declined by 16,312, 20,012, 31,504 and 26,930 lines respectively compared to September.
