Spanish tax inspectors raid Google's Madrid HQ
Spanish tax investigators have raided Google’s Madrid headquarters just a month after the company’s Paris offices were searched in a tax probe, reports Reuters, citing a brief statement by Madrid's High Court. In response, Google reiterated that it fully complied with fiscal legislation in Spain, as in all other countries where it operated, and that it was cooperating with authorities on the matter. Last month’s raid of Google’s Paris HQ was part of a probe into aggravated tax fraud and organised laundering of the proceeds, with the company facing similar investigations elsewhere in Europe. Italy’s financial police have also reportedly accused Google of evading EUR 227 million in taxes between 2009 and 2013.

Business daily El Economista subsequently reported that the tax investigators raided Google's Torre Picasso office in Madrid's business district as well as its new Google Campus complex in the heart of the city. The company's Spanish subsidiary declared net profits of EUR 4.46 million in 2014, added the report.
