Sunrise launches commercial LTE services
Swiss operator Sunrise has announced the launch of LTE mobile broadband services, supporting data speeds of up to 100 Mbps. All Sunrise customers can access the service using a 4G-enabled smartphone, surf stick or notebook. The network covers more than 22 percent of Sunrise customers at launch, and will be expanded to cover 50 percent by end-October. 

Sunrise is making LTE services available to all customers at launch, including post-paid, pre-paid and customers of MVNOs on its network. Customers signing up for a Sunrise NOW relax or Sunrise NOW max subscription by end-2013 can have unlimited use of the LTE network for 12 months with no monthly restrictions.

Sunrise acquires Lebara in Switzerland

Sunrise Communications has acquired Lebara in Switzerland. Combined with its existing yallo brand, the deal strengthens Sunrise's position in the market for pre-paid, low-cost international calls and data services. Sunrise offers summer discounts on combined services

Swiss operator Sunrise said it is offering summer discounts of up to CHF 780 on combined packages of TV, internet and mobile telephony. It said savings are available for customers picking a Sunrise NOW classic, Relax or Max mobile telephony tariff and who sign a subscription for Sunrise TV or Sunrise Internet Everywhere between 01 July and 24 August. Sunrise Q1 revenues down 4.5% on price pressure

Swiss operator Sunrise reported first-quarter revenues down 4.5 percent from a year earlier to CHF 486.5 million, hurt by price reductions. EBITDA fell 7.1 percent to CHF 141.2 million.
