Telenor proposes Waersted as new chairman
Telenor has proposed Gunn Waested as the new chair of its board of directors. Born in 1955, Waersted is Executive Vice President and member of the Group Executive Management at Nordea Bank and Country Senior Executive at Nordea Bank Norway. She has held a number of senior executive positions in banking and insurance, among which CEO of SpareBank 1 Gruppen and the SpareBank 1 Alliansen, Group Executive Vice President of DNB and CEO of Vital Forsikring. She is also the chair of Petoro and has previously been a board member of Statoil, Statkraft and Ferd Holding. 

Telenor's surpervisory board confirmed the appointment at a meeting 17 December. Telenor's previous chairman Svein Aaser was dismissed in October after disagreeing with the state, Telenor's largest shareholder, about the company's handling of its stake in Vimpelcom.

Telenor grows organic revenue 1.5% in Q1

Telenor reported organic revenue growth of 1.5 percent in the first quarter and maintained its outlook for 2-4 percent growth over the full year. Norway parliament plans new hearing on Vimpelcom case

Norway is looking to hold fresh hearings on the Vimpelcom corruption case after the operator said it reached a settlement with US and Dutch authorities. Telenor expects its growth to slow and margins to come under pressure in 2016, amid fierce competition and headwinds in key markets like Thailand and Malaysia. Telenor Norway's Lonning becomes TDC Business head

Danish operator TDC announced the appointment of Marina Lonning as senior executive vice president of TDC Business from 01 April and a member of TDC's executive committee. Telenor surpasses 200 mln mobile subscribers

Telenor Group said it surpassed the 200 million mobile subscribers mark. This represents a significant milestone in Telenor Group's history across Asia, Europe and the Nordics, the Norway-based company said. At the end of 2015, the group has 200.6 million mobile subscribers, excluding figures from Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar, up from 185.9 million at the end of 2014. Telenor chairman Aaser resigns after disagreement with state

Telenor's chairman Svein Aaser has resigned, effective immediately, following a disagreement with the company's largest shareholder, the Norwegian state. Telenor names Asia chief Brekke its new CEO

Telenor has appointed Sigve Brekke its new CEO. Brekke joined the group in 1999 and is currently the head of Telenor's Asia operations. He will succeed Jon Fredrik Baksaas by 17 August. Baksaas steps down after 13 years as CEO. In September 2014, he extended his tenure for another year. Baksaas will continue as advisor to the board of directors until the end of 2016 and will serve as chairman of GSMA, the global industry organisation for mobile operators.
