
German IT association Bitkom said 33 percent of people aged 14 or over in Germany uses video streaming in place of traditional TV for at least some of their viewing. This corresponds to a good 13 million people, it said, citing a survey. It found 44 percent of streaming users watch less cable or satellite TV now that they watch continent on line. It said 18 percent of respondents could see themselves ditching linear TV completely.
Six out of ten streamers (59 percent) do not want to keep to a viewing schedule, and 46 percent have already skipped a show at the time of broadcast, in favour of watching it online. It said 73 percent of people aged over 14 use video streaming, corresponding to 40 million people in Germany, with only 27 percent watching video via download.
