Webex by Cisco hits record 8 bln monthly calls

Cisco announced it is hosting a record 8 billion calls monthly across its cloud calling platforms, the most of any cloud calling provider. To meet enterprises' growing global needs, Cisco said it extended its domestic calling coverage to include the UK, with more than 65 countries now covered with its Cisco Calling Plans and Cloud Connected PSTN services. Webex Calling customers include T-Mobile, Office Depot, Cigna Health, and CDK Global. 

Webex Calling is part of the Webex Suite, the suite for hybrid work that provides Cloud Calling, Messaging, Meetings, Polling, Events and Socio in a unified and secure offering. Cisco said reliability was essential, as the services are embedded in the everyday workflows of its clients.

Cisco has more than 39 million cloud calling users across all cloud calling platforms hosted by Cisco and its service provider partners. Customers are supported by Webex's partner ecosystem for Cloud Calling, with over 1,000 partners worldwide providing offering local delivery, integration and calling plans and support to meet specific customer needs.

Cisco raises dividend, share buyback after Q2 earnings beat forecast

Cisco reported revenues for its fiscal second quarter to January up 6 percent year-on-year to USD 12.7 billion. While growth slowed slightly compared to the previous quarters, sales were at the high end of Cisco's forecast, and net earnings beat the company's outlook, with an 18 percent rise to USD 0.71 per share. The company said demand remains strong, with a third consecutive quarter of more than 30 percent product order growth.

Cisco provides training for Saudi Federation for Cyber Security, Programming and Drones

Cisco has announced a partnership with the Saudi Federation for Cyber Security, Programming and Drones (SAFCSP), to develop the digital skills of 8,000 trainers in cybersecurity and programming. In Saudi Arabia, the Cisco NetAcad programme has one of the highest female student participation rates globally, reaching 32 percent. Of the 8,000 participants in Cisco and SAFCSP's new initiative using online and on-site courses, more than 1,000 will be women.

Cisco forecasts strong growth ahead after 8% rise in July quarter sales

Cisco reported a strong finish to its fiscal year, with revenues in the fourth quarter to July up 8 percent year-on-year to USD 13.1 billion. Net earnings rose 15 percent to USD 3.0 billion or USD 0.71 per share, better than the company's outlook. Cisco expects the growth to continue in the new year, forecasting revenues up 5-7 percent compared to just 1 percent growth in the past year.

Cisco is introducing a new router in its NCS series that it says can bring the power of 400G to telecom access networks. Built on merchant silicon ASIC, the NCS 540 Large Density Router is aligned with the Cisco Routed Optical Networking Architecture, which relies on a single control plane based on IP/MPLS in a converged IP and optical network.

Cisco said the new structure provides a fully scalable and secure public cloud environment, reducing management and provisioning costs.
