Xbox to bring games to smart TVs, plans more deals with telecom providers

Microsoft’s Xbox said its games will be coming to more screens in the future. In an announcement ahead of the E3 games industry event, the company said it is working with different TV manufacturers to bring its service to more internet-connected TVs, with no extra hardware required besides a controller. Xbox is also exploring new subscription offerings for its Game Pass, across more devices, geographies and price points. The company is also working with telecom services providers on new purchasing models such as Xbox All Access, which allows people to buy both a console and Game Pass for a low monthly price.

The company plans to expand cloud gaming through the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service to Australia, Brazil, Mexico and Japan later this year. Meanwhile, over the next few weeks, cloud gaming on the browser will open to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. People will be able to game using Edge, Chrome, and Safari support. Lastly, the company will be adding cloud gaming directly into the Xbox app on PC.

Xbox noted it was in the final stages of updating its Microsoft data centres around the world for its latest generation of hardware, the Xbox Series X. This will bring faster load times, improved frame rates, and a better experience for Xbox Series X|S optimized games.
