Ziggo tests VoIP app for fixed line over mobile
Dutch cable operator Ziggo has started a service where customers can use their fixed-line subscriptions to make calls over their smartphones and tablets. The Ziggo Bapp app is available for Apple and Android devices from 8 April and works over Wi-Fi and mobile networks. During a two-month testing period, Ziggo will invite up to 3,000 customers over email to provide feedback to help improve the app. Customers will be able to remain available on their fixed number, even when abroad, and make calls to fixed and mobile numbers from the subscription, with automatic handover between Wi-Fi and mobile networks. Ziggo said the new service is a logical next step after the roll-out of the Ziggo WifiSpots, which allow customers public Wi-Fi through shared access to Ziggo home routers.

Ziggo extends fixed line to mobile with Bapp app

Dutch cable operator Ziggo introduced the Bapp mobile app for customers to make calls over Wi-Fi or mobile networks using their fixed number. The free app charges the same as Ziggo fixed lines for calls, and customers can also take a subscription for unlimited calls. Ziggo to boost security on Wifispots

Ziggo reported first-quarter revenues up 1.7 percent. Excluding the takeover of Esprit Telecom, revenue was down 0.8 percent, while excluding Esprit and decoder sales, organic revenue rose 0.8 percent. Ziggo revenues up 1.7% in Q1 on growth in mobile, broadband

Dutch cable operator Ziggo saw its revenues increase 1.7 percent in Q1 to EUR 294.2 million. Organic growth, excluding the takeover of Esprit, was 0.8 percent on an annual basis. Ziggo said it had a solid start to the year, with continued growth in broadband, mobile and the business market. Its adjusted EBITDA fell 4.3 percent from a year ago to EUR 213.1 million, hurt by higher investments in customer service, innovation and marketing. UPC releases test version of fixed-mobile app

UPC Netherlands has made a test version of its UPC Phone available temporarily on Google Play and the Apple App Store. The app allows users to make calls over Wi-Fi or the mobile network at fixed-line rates. It works for UPC customers with a telephony subscription at the cable operator. It also works with the unlimited fixed-line plan and supports access to the voicemail. The app can be installed on up three phones for each fixed-line customer.

Dutch cable operator Ziggo has introduced a voice app called Bapp for smartphones and tablets (no SIM needed). It will test the app the next two months with 3,000 customers. Available for iOS and Android devices, Bapp allows customers to make and receive calls with their fixed-line number, from their mobile phone.
